Department of Natural Resources 
The Department of Natural Resources was established in 2004 at the Qasr-e Shirin Institute of Higher Education, offering two undergraduate programs in Range and Watershed Management and Forestry at the BSc level. Since the Department was transferred to Razi University in 2008, it has continued to admit students to BSc programs in the same fields. Since 2013, the Department has also been offering a BSc program in Nature Engineering (formerly known as Range and Watershed Management).

The Goals of the Department 

With growing threats to food and water security due to water scarcity, the importance of development plans for water, soil, and forest conservation is greater than at any time in the past.

With five full-time faculty members engaged in teaching and research, the Department of Natural Resources aims to train specialized professionals in Watershed Management, Range Management, and Forestry. Specifically, the Department seeks to:

• Develop a strong foundation in theoretical principles and research tools, and apply appropriate methods in the country’s watersheds by integrating local experience with new technologies;

• Improve the efficiency of national water and soil resource utilization while adhering to the principles of sustainable development and ensuring the long-term viability of the main sources of water, soil, and plant cover;

• Take effective steps toward improving natural resource conditions and providing solutions to national challenges.
