The Department of Materials and Textile Engineering at Razi University was established as an independent entity in 2014. The Department offers BSc programs in both Materials Engineering and Textile Engineering. At the graduate level, students can pursue MSc degrees in Materials Engineering, with specializations in Nanomaterials and Materials Identification. Leveraging the expertise of our experienced faculty and the innovative potential of our young academic staff, the Department is dedicated to training creative and highly skilled professionals.
Textile Engineering is characterized by a high employment-to-investment ratio, offering diverse career pathways. While undergraduate students are initially admitted into a general Textile Engineering program, they may subsequently specialize in fields such as Textile Technology, Textile Chemistry, Apparel and Design, Technical Textiles, or Fiber Science, depending on available research and educational resources. Currently, our Department specifically offers courses in Apparel and Design. Through our curriculum, Textile Engineering students gain comprehensive knowledge in fiber identification, synthetic polymer fiber production, fabric formation, as well as dyeing and finishing processes for diverse applications—ranging from apparel and flooring to technical uses in construction, composite reinforcement, and the medical and military sectors.
Materials Engineering is fundamentally about both the creation of novel materials and the optimization of existing ones. Since every product is derived from specific materials or combinations thereof, materials engineers are essential to the processes that transform natural resources into functional products. This field impacts every sector of the economy, including aerospace, electronics, transportation, telecommunications, construction, and environmental engineering. Beyond traditional metals, our focus extends to ceramics, polymers, and advanced composites designed to meet rigorous performance and functional demands. Consequently, students in Materials Engineering acquire the fundamental knowledge and conceptual frameworks necessary to innovate in this field, preparing them to become the engineers and researchers who will advance next-generation material industries on the global stage.
