The Department of Organic Chemistry is part of the Faculty of Chemistry and admits students at both the Master's and PhD levels.

The Department of Organic Chemistry at Razi University is one of the prominent and active divisions within the Faculty of Chemistry, dedicated to education and research in organic compounds and related chemical reactions. With experienced faculty members and advanced laboratory equipment, the department offers an ideal environment for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students.
Research activities include synthesis and identification of organic compounds, reaction mechanism studies, development of new synthetic methods, investigation of physical and chemical properties of organic materials, and the design of novel catalysts and photocatalysts for organic reactions. The department also conducts applied research in pharmaceutical chemistry, environmental chemistry, and related industries, and maintains extensive collaborations with domestic research centers, industries, and international universities.
The department’s primary goal is to train skilled and committed researchers who can contribute to the advancement of organic chemistry and address industrial and environmental challenges. Professor Kiumars Bahrami, full professor and Dean at the Faculty of Chemistry, is a leading figure in organic chemistry in Iran. With a PhD in organic chemistry and years of teaching and research experience—especially in organic synthesis and reaction mechanisms—he is widely recognized. Professor Bahrami has led numerous research projects and published extensively in reputable international journals. He is among the most cited researchers at Razi University and has been listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide since 2021, according to Scopus. Professor Mohammad Mehdi Khodaei, a retired professor and a renowned figure in organic chemistry both nationally and in the Islamic world, has significantly contributed to the scientific progress of Razi University. In addition to his extensive research, he served as the university president and was recognized as a top scientist in the Islamic world in 2018. That same year, he was listed among the top 1% of most cited scientists globally according to ISI, underscoring his international scientific stature. He also served for several years as a science and technology advisor to the governor of Kermanshah, applying his valuable experience to regional development. His scientific, managerial, and educational contributions have been widely praised by the academic community.
Dr. Farhat Sadat Meybodi, another retired member of the department, played a key role in enhancing its academic level and training students through years of research and teaching.
