The department of Civil Engineering was established in 1994, initially admitting students for the BSc program in Civil Engineering. This department is now admitting students for BSc, MSc, and Ph.D. programs in the following specializations: 
BSc: Civil Engineering
MSc: Structural Engineering – Geotechnical Engineering – Earthquake Engineering – Hydraulic Structures and Water Engineering – Water Resources Management – Road and Transportation
Ph.D.: Structural Engineering – Geotechnical Engineering – Hydraulic Structures and Water Engineering. 

This department has 20 faculty members, and four educational laboratories of Mechanics of Materials Lab, Soil Mechanics Lab, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics Lab, Concrete Technology Lab, and Workshops. The department hosts 3 research laboratories of Structural & Materials Engineering, Advanced Geotechnical and Road Pavement Engineering, and Advanced Water Engineering and Hydraulics.
This department is also open to international students for graduate programs. Considering the knowledge and expertise possessed by the faculty members, the department of Civil Engineering has taken influential steps on the path of training national efficient specialists and conducting research and projects in the west of the country.
