Razi University

On Wednesday, November 4th, an online meeting was held between the Director of the International Office and the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Razi University, and the Head of the Architecture Center at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, to discuss potential areas of cooperation. Both sides engaged in discussions regarding mutual frameworks for strengthening academic and scientific relations in the field of architecture.

 

In this meeting, which included Dr. Shahab Moradkhani, Director of International Affairs, and Dr. Javad Goodini, the Head of the Faculty of Architecture at Razi University, the two sides reviewed possible avenues for collaboration.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Moradkhani introduced Razi University as the oldest university in the western region of the country and emphasized its readiness to cooperate with universities worldwide. He highlighted the diversity of international students at Razi University and expressed the university's willingness to accept and host students from Malaysia. Dr. Moradkhani pointed out the advantages of studying at Razi University, including its numerous campuses and satellite universities, its strong position in national academic rankings, the history and natural beauty of the province, and its collaborative approach with international students.
Dr. Moradkhani emphasized that the collaboration with the UiTM Architecture Group should be tangible and operational. He proposed joint theses and the use of both universities' resources for organizing joint workshops as initial steps for cooperation.

Dr. Hailani, Head of the Architecture Group at UiTM, then provided an overview of the university's characteristics, such as its programs and campuses, and expressed his enthusiasm for cooperating with Razi University. He suggested that organizing scientific webinars would be a feasible first step toward establishing international academic collaboration.

Dr. Javad Goodini, Head of the Faculty of Architecture and the person responsible for launching the faculty at Razi University, highlighted the potentials and facilities available in architecture and urban planning programs. He mentioned that sustainability, energy, architectural qualities, architectural teaching methods, design processes, and Islamic architecture could be key areas of collaboration. He also pointed out that the architecture department could establish a fruitful and effective partnership with UiTM due to its strong connections with other universities in the country. The idea of organizing joint webinars, introducing top students to collaborate with professors, co-authoring papers, and collaborating on students' theses were discussed as practical steps for cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that both sides would prepare an operational plan for cooperation and officially exchange it. Both parties expressed hope that this collaboration would be pursued at higher levels in future meetings.
It is worth noting that UiTM is the largest public university in Malaysia, and there is potential for further collaboration in other fields as well.
