A Step Toward Strengthening Scientific Diplomacy Participation of Three Razi University Faculty Members in the International Water Conference at the University of Diyala, Iraq
The International Water Conference, hosted by the University of Diyala in Iraq, was held from April 19 to 20, 2025. Following correspondence and coordination between the Office of International Affairs at the University of Diyala and the Office of International Affairs at Razi University, the two institutions agreed to foster academic collaboration in this important area. After the announcement was shared with relevant departments, three faculty members from Razi University expressed interest in participating and presenting papers at the conference.
The following scholars from Razi University delivered presentations at the conference:
• Dr. Aijazh Azami
• Dr. Rahman Hariri
• Dr. Farzad Rostami
In addition to individual presentations, a specialized panel discussion was held with participation from both Iranian and Iraqi academics, focusing on climate change, sustainable development, and shared river resources. The dialogue emphasized the need for joint policies and collaborative efforts between the two countries to address environmental challenges.
One of the highlights of the conference was the exhibition of the University of Diyala’s scientific achievements, including innovative ideas and patented inventions. The exhibition was formally inaugurated with the presence of the Razi University delegation. Given the number of Diyala University graduates who have pursued further studies at Razi University, both sides reaffirmed the importance of expanding cooperation, especially through joint publications, theses, and dissertations.
Further discussions were held between Razi University faculty and officials from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Diyala, including faculty members from the Departments of Geography, International Relations, and Political Science. The two parties explored the potential for joint classes, in-person and virtual workshops, and guest lectures. The proposals were warmly received by the Iraqi side, and it was agreed that further coordination will be carried out in the near future to implement these initiatives.
