Department of Natural Resources
The department of Natural Resources initially began its activity in 2004 at the Qasr-e Shirin Institute of Higher Education with two engineering fields of 'Range and Watershed management' and 'Forestry'. It has later continued to admit students for bachelor degree programs in the same fields in Kermanshah since transferred to Razi University in 2008. This department has been offering Master's programs in 'Forestry' and bachelor's programs in 'Nature Engineering' and 'Forest Science and Engineering' (formerly known as 'Range and Watershed management' and 'Forestry', respectively) since 2013.
The Goals of the Department
Food and water security being threatened by water shortage has highlighted the importance of developmental plans for water, soil, and forest conservation more than any time in the past.
With 6 full-time faculty members active in teaching and research, the department of Natural Resources seeks to train specialized workforce in the fields of Watershed Management, Range management , and Forestry to
- learn theoretical fundamentals and research tools of this science and incorporate appropriate methods into the country's watersheds by combining local experiences and new technologies
- improve the efficiency of the national water and soil resources exploitation while considering the principles of stable development and sustaining the main sources of water, soil, and plant
- Taking steps towards to develop natural resources condition and offering solutions to the national problems.
