Biography

Dr. Mahmood Ahmadi received his B.Sc. in Computer Engineering (Hardware) in 1995 (1374) from the University of Isfahan. He then completed his M.Sc. in Computer Systems Architecture in 1998 (1377) from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic). Immediately afterward, he joined the Department of Computer Engineering at Razi University of Kermanshah as a faculty member.

Continuing his academic journey, he moved to Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands in 2005 (1384) to pursue his Ph.D., which he successfully earned in 2010 (1389). Upon returning, he continued his work at Razi University as an assistant professor. Concurrently, from 2010 to 2012 (1389–1391), he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the same university (TU Delft).

Dr. Ahmadi is currently a full professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Razi University, where he is engaged in teaching and research.

Throughout his academic career, he has published over 110 papers in reputable international journals and conferences. Additionally, he has supervised and mentored dozens of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students.

His research interests include Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Named Data Networking (NDN), applications of machine learning in networking and security, Network Function Virtualization (NFV), the Internet of Things (IoT), intrusion detection systems, cloud computing, and fog computing – with a particular focus on vehicular environments. Furthermore, he has experience in high-performance processing system architectures, simulation and design of network protocols, and the application of probabilistic approximate membership data structures (Bloom filters, Cuckoo filters, and Quotient filters) in network packet processing.

Over the course of his professional career, Dr. Ahmadi has received numerous awards and honors, including: ranking first academically in his M.Sc. program at Amirkabir University of Technology (1998 / 1377), receiving research scholarships from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA (2006) and Delft University of Technology (2006), being selected as the top researcher of the Computer Engineering Department at Razi University in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2024 (1392, 1393, 1396, 1397, 1399, and 1403), being selected as the second top researcher of the Faculty of Engineering at Razi University in 2023 (1402), and receiving the title of Exemplary Professor of the Faculty of Engineering in 2024 (1403).
