Biography
I hold a BSc degree in Plant Protection (2001-2005) from Urmia University, a Master in biological control of plant diseases (2006-2008), and a Ph.D. in plant-microbe interaction (2009-2013) from the University of Tehran. I also passed 14 months visiting scholar at the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology.
My doctoral dissertation was conducted in consultation with Prof. Choong-Min Ryu, and examines the plant defense signaling response to bacterial volatile compounds. I found interesting data and introduce new ideas on plant-microbe interaction published in the New Phytologist, Current Opinion in Plant Biology, Plant, Cell & Environment, Journal of Experimental Botany, Annals of Botany, Trends in Plant Science and Frontiers in Microbiology. Thereafter, I collaborated with researchers in South Korea, China, and the EU. I believe in the interdisciplinary nature of science and try to expand my collaboration either in my institute or throughout the world.
My scientific focus is on volatile mediated plant-microbe and microbe-microbe interaction. I work on Induced systemic resistance and defense priming by VOCs. Moreover, I work on microbe-induced plant volatiles and the formulation of biogenic VOCs.
I teach plant-microbe interaction, biological control, plant bacteriology and plant biochemistry courses.
