Biography
Dr. Morteza Pourreza is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Natural Resources Engineering at Razi University, with his primary expertise in Forest Ecology and, more specifically, Fire Ecology. He earned his Ph.D. in Forest Ecology from Tarbiat Modares University, where his doctoral dissertation investigated "The Effect of Fire on Some Biological Soil Properties in the Zagros Forests." Before joining Razi University, Dr. Pourreza served as a researcher in the Forestry Department of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center for seven years (2004-2011). He also completed a research fellowship at The Ohio State University (USA), conducting research on the impact of fire on the soil microbial community in Michigan forests. His current research program focuses on the spatio-temporal analysis of wildfires, fire behavior and prediction modeling, and the application of Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies in studying fire regimes. Furthermore, as the founder of the Aerial Land Monitoring Group at Razi University, he is actively involved in utilizing drone technology for monitoring natural resources, mines, urban greenery, and related fields. His broader research interests also encompass quantitative ecology, the analysis of spatial distribution patterns, and investigating forest structure and sustainability.
