Study of the doubly heavy baryons via Higgs decays through a fragmentation approach

Supervisor Tofigh Osati

Abstract

In this dissertation, the decay of the Standard Model Higgs boson into heavy baryons containing two different flavors of heavy quarks—specifically bb and cc—is investigated. These baryons are considered in the S-wave ground state and are produced via the direct fragmentation mechanism of heavy quarks. One of the dominant decay modes of the Higgs boson is its transition into heavy quark-antiquark pairs such bb   , cc   each of which can subsequently hadronized into double-heavy baryons through direct fragmentation. The primary objective of this work is to study the direct fragmentation of heavy quarks originating from Higgs decay and to explore their role in the production of double-heavy baryons.
